What happened?
SpaceX successfully launched the Starlink Group 17-37 mission on a Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, on 26 May 2026 at 14:50:34 UTC. The mission carried a new batch of Starlink internet satellites to low Earth orbit and was declared a success.

What was the payload?
The payload was a stack of Starlink v2 Mini satellites, SpaceX's upgraded design that carries roughly four times the usable bandwidth of the original v1.5 units. Each Falcon 9 flight from Vandenberg typically deploys around 20 or more of these satellites into low Earth orbit at altitudes near 300 km, after which each spacecraft raises itself to its operational altitude of roughly 550 km using onboard ion thrusters.
Vandenberg launches feed the constellation's higher-inclination orbital shells, providing coverage over polar and high-latitude regions that flights from Florida cannot efficiently reach. The Starlink network, according to SpaceX, now serves millions of subscribers across residential, maritime, aviation and government markets.
What happened to the booster?
Falcon 9's reusable first stage separated roughly two and a half minutes after liftoff and returned for a propulsive landing on one of SpaceX's West Coast droneships stationed in the Pacific Ocean. Booster recovery is now routine for SpaceX, with individual Falcon 9 first stages having flown more than 20 times each. The recovered stage will be inspected, refurbished and returned to the flight rotation.
The rocket's payload fairing halves were also recovered from the ocean for reuse, a practice SpaceX has used across the Starlink campaign to reduce per-flight cost.
