What is the payload?

Amazon Leo — formerly branded Project Kuiper — is Amazon's satellite broadband network designed to deliver low-latency internet to consumers, businesses and governments worldwide. LE-03 marks the third dedicated Amazon Leo mission flown on the Ariane 6 family, part of a multi-launch agreement Amazon signed with Arianespace to help populate its planned constellation of more than 3,200 satellites.

The satellites operate in low Earth orbit at altitudes typically between 590 and 630 km, where lower signal latency is achievable compared with traditional geostationary broadband at 35,786 km. Its large 20-meter-class fairing accommodates stacks of flat-packed broadband satellites, and the restartable Vinci upper stage can precisely place multiple spacecraft into their target orbital planes before deorbiting itself to limit debris.

How did the mission profile unfold?

Following ignition of the Vulcain 2.1 core engine and the four solid boosters, the Ariane 64 climbed away from Kourou and shed its boosters roughly two minutes into flight. The core stage continued to burn before staging, after which the Vinci-powered upper stage completed the orbital insertion sequence and released the Amazon Leo spacecraft. Arianespace confirmed the mission achieved its objectives.
