Who it's for

For aurora tour operators & lodges

  • Put tonight's odds for your base (Tromsø, Abisko, Rovaniemi, Yellowknife, Fairbanks…) on your tours page: live Kp, the Kp your location needs, and tonight's cloud cover.
  • Guests who can see the honest odds and the clearest window pick the right night, and stop blaming you for clouds nobody controls.
  • Dark theme suits night-sky pages; the card speaks your guests' language (German, French, Spanish, Japanese…).

For astronomy clubs & planetariums

  • Add the next ISS pass over your town to your observing page or newsletter landing page, with the visible passes flagged. It's the question members ask most.
  • At higher latitudes, pair it with the aurora card so members know when a clear night is worth a trip out.
  • Light theme fits a typical club website; no scripts or cookies to clear with your webmaster.

For dark-sky parks & preserves

  • Show visitors whether tonight is an aurora night at your park's nearest town, with cloud cover, on the page they check before they drive out.
  • It updates itself from NOAA data every 15–30 minutes. Nobody on your team has to post updates.
  • Privacy-clean for public bodies: an iframe with no cookies, no ads and no visitor tracking.

Build the Jasper card →

For weather sites & newsrooms

  • During a geomagnetic storm, readers search “can I see the northern lights tonight in [town]”. Drop the card for your town into the storm story or your weather page and it stays correct as the night evolves.
  • It works for 691 cities, and where the aurora needs a big storm the card says so honestly instead of hyping it.
  • Light theme and 10 languages; one iframe, lazy-loaded, a few kilobytes.

Any satellite (ham radio, weather…) — next pass

The same next-pass card for any tracked satellite, not just the ISS. Shown here for HADES-SA (hades-sa) — AMSAT-EA's amateur-radio PocketQube, Spain-OSCAR 127 — over Madrid, computed from the latest orbital data. Swap hades-sa for another supported satellite and madrid for any city slug, and add ?lang=es (10 languages) so it matches your site. Ideal for ham-radio clubs and weather-satellite enthusiasts. Frequently asked questions

›Does the widget use an iframe or JavaScript?

It's a plain <iframe> — a single line of HTML. It adds no JavaScript, no external scripts and no dependencies to your page; nothing runs in your site's own context.

›What visitor data or analytics does it collect?

Nothing about your visitors. There are no analytics scripts, trackers, cookies or fingerprinting. The widget does count its own loads per embedding website: one anonymous ping per view carrying the widget, city, language and your site's hostname, with no cookie, no identifier and no IP address stored. That count is how we can tell you how often your widget is seen.

›Does it set cookies?

No. The widget sets no cookies and uses no local storage, so it triggers no cookie-consent obligation on your side.

›Does it display advertising?

No. There is no advertising of any kind inside the widget.

›Which data source powers the forecast?

The aurora forecast uses the official NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center planetary K-index (current values and forecast). ISS pass times are computed from public two-line orbital elements (CelesTrak); rocket-launch times come from The Space Devs' Launch Library 2.

›Is it really free?

Yes — free forever for any website, commercial ones included. The only string attached is the small visible 'Live forecast by Cosmik' credit link built into the widget itself.

›How do I change the city, colours or language?

Use the builder at the top of this page, or edit the iframe URL by hand: swap the city slug (/embed/aurora/oslo → /embed/aurora/jasper, the same slug as that city's forecast page), add ?theme=light for white pages, and ?lang=fr (en, fr, de, es, it, nl, pl, pt, ru, ja) for the card's language.

›How often does it update?

Automatically. The card refreshes on a short server cache (roughly every 15–30 minutes) and always reflects the latest NOAA data — you never touch the embed code again.

›Will it slow down my page?

No. It loads lazily, weighs only a few kilobytes and runs entirely inside its own iframe, so it never blocks the rest of your page from loading.

›Can we remove the credit or add our own branding?

Yes, with the white-label plans for tour operators and tourism boards (gocosmik.com/for-operators). From $19.99/month, first month $1: no Cosmik credit, your logo and colours, a 'Book your tour' button. Higher plans add guest alert emails, several destinations and API access. Anything custom: hi@gocosmik.com.
